I create a warm, comfortable and non-judgemental environment where adults, children and teens feel safe to express themselves and take steps toward positive change.  I recognize clients' strengths and help them use those strengths to make different choices as well as develop new patterns for relating to others in their lives.

My clinical approach reflects a commitment to working with clients from a “systems” viewpoint, meaning I look at problems within the context of relationships (couple and family) and social environment. I believe problems are best resolved by considering your experiences, family and significant relationships as well as others involved with your situation such as school and/or work personnel.

Therapeutic modalities that I employ include: family of origin exploration, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), structural, and psycho-education.  I work with you to establish attainable goals and develop a treatment plan that makes sense for you. This may include homework assignments for you to complete between sessions which are designed to help you focus on how you can change your current situation.

I am a Clinical Member of the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT) and am a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist in the state of Washington.

I graduated Magna cum Laude, with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Smith College in Northampton, MA.  I completed my Master of Arts in Marriage & Family Therapy from Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, WA.  I counseled adult individuals, couples and families at PLU’s Couple & Family Therapy Center. During and after my master's program, I worked in community mental health providing counseling services to individuals, couples and families.

Tucker, my miniature schnauzer, is usually with me at both locations.  He loves to say hi and then relaxes in his bed in the office.  His main mission is to help clients feel comfortable and relaxed.  He also helps children feel comfortable and safe enough to talk.  If you have any concerns about Tucker's presence, please let me know.
